– October 9 – Bring a covered dish for a Potluck Lunch following 11am worship at Sprucetown UMC!
– October 13 – Penns Valley Homecoming Parade & Pep Rally, Grange Fairgrounds 6:30pm, stop by St. James UMC’s Soup Sale, proceeds benefit the Historic Paradise Church Cemetery Association.
– October 15 – Fall cleaning day at St. James starts at 8:30am. Refreshments and coffee provided! The focus is to de-clutter, recycle and re-home many of the items in the basement. St. James folks, if you have suggestions for re-homing these items, which includes many silk flowers and arrangements, please share your thoughts with a trustee or administrative board member.
– October 15 – The Northeastern Jurisdiction, of which Susquehanna is a part, has called a special session for October 15 to be held virtually from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. You can watch it live at (2) Northeastern Jurisdictional Conference | Virtual Special Session – YouTube Delegates will vote on the number of bishops to elect during the coming Northeastern Jurisdictional Conference to be held November 2-4 in Baltimore. The jurisdiction’s bishops are recommending no elections this November.
– October 20 – Ladies Coffee & Conversation at St. James UMC 9:30am, all ladies welcome!
– October 23 – Penns Valley Cluster UMC Pulpit Swap Sunday; Pastor Theresa visits Grace Centre Hall at 10am; Randy Muthersbaugh visits Trinity in Woodward 8:30am, St. James in Coburn 9:45am and Sprucetown 11am; Deb Dailey visits Faith in Spring Mills at 8:30am and Brush Valley UMC at 10am
– October 24 – PV Charge Staff Parish Relations Committee meeting 7pm at St. James in Coburn.
– October 26 – NEW DATE: Our Charge Conference is October 26 6:30pm hosted by Sprucetown UMC. You are welcome to arrive starting at 3:30pm for light refreshments and fellowship downstairs. Our cluster charges, led by our District Superintendent Rev. Brenda Leigey, will attend to holy conferencing to approve reports, officers and more for the past and coming year. Full members of the church may vote. All are welcome and encouraged to attend.
– Nov. 20 – Community Thanksgiving Service 6pm hosted at Trinity UCC in Centre Hall with Pastor Scott Leddy (Calvary Penns Valley) and Pastor Theresa speaking. Refreshments and fellowship follow. 100% of the offering collected to benefit the HOPE Fund of Penns Valley.
