May 2 & 3, 2025 hosted by Grace UMC, Centre Hall – This training is in person, not available by Zoom.

The Lay Servant Ministries Basic Course will be offered in two sessions Friday, May 2 from 6:30-9pm and Saturday, May 3 from 9am-5pm at Grace UMC, 127 N. Pennsylvania Ave. in Centre Hall. Bring a bag lunch for Saturday. You must complete all 10 hours of training to receive your certificate.

Course topics such as servant and spiritual leadership, caring ministries, and sharing your faith will enhance your understanding about the church, your role in it and enhance leadership skills.

The class fee is $5 payable to Grace UMC. Your church may provide scholarships to cover the fee and booklet. Ask your pastor. You must read the participant’s booklet in full to be prepared for our gathering. Lay Servant Ministries, Participant Book by Bryan and Sandy Jackson is available from several bookstores including;

NOTE TO THOSE INTERESTED IN PURSUING LAY SPEAKING: Those new to the training who have gifts for preaching may take the advanced course on preaching after completing this course.
